Key Talking Points for Telephone Conversation w/ Facebook Tomorrow

Dear Chris,

I appreciate you taking the time out of what I am sure is a busy schedule to talk with me about some of the problems found on Facebook. I wanted to drop you a line prior to our talk in order to "prep" you a bit on the issue of antisemitism and pro-Jihadist propaganda being spread on the site. As I indicated, many people share my concerns. I admin over 20 Facebook groups, many which focus on these issues. My group memberships total over 55,000+ concerned Facebook users. I recently have been on the radio discussing the issues and have had articles written about the problem and I am constantly discussing the issues and coordinating efforts with concerned leaders around the globe.

Please note, these issues do not only involve Facebook, but we also see this type of material on Google/YouTube, Myspace and in various online forums all over the web. It is our hope that Facebook takes advantage of the opportunity to show true leadership in the fight against these dangerous trends.

Here you may find an incomplete list with well over 300 Facebook groups, which are a concern. Some of the most vile forms of antisemitism and views which support and propagate Islamic Jihad can be found in those groups, which we feel break Facebook's own terms as follows:

Facebook's Rules and Terms (Key Points)

One cannot post "libelous, defamatory or otherwise unlawful material." In addition users cannot: upload, post, transmit, share, store or otherwise make available any content that we deem to be harmful, threatening, unlawful, defamatory, infringing, abusive, inflammatory, harassing, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable; intimidate or harass another; upload, post, transmit, share, store or otherwise make available content that would constitute, encourage or provide instructions for a criminal offense, violate the rights of any party, or that would otherwise create liability or violate any local, state, national or international law;upload, post, transmit, share, store or otherwise make available content that, in the sole judgment of Company, is objectionable or which restricts or inhibits any other person from using or enjoying the Site, or which may expose Company or its users to any harm or liability of any type
Facebook's Content Code of Conduct (Key Points)
While we believe users should be able to express themselves and their point of view, certain kinds of speech simply do not belong in a community like Facebook. Therefore, you may not post or share Content that: depicts graphic or gratuitous violence makes threats of any kind or that intimidates, harasses, or bullies anyone is derogatory, demeaning, malicious, defamatory, abusive, offensive or hateful
While I am not a lawyer, I feel that there could be a good possibility that the existence of these groups and propaganda might break various international anti-terrorism laws.

The following articles and research also help to shed light on the problem:

I look forward to speaking with you and developing solutions to these problems. Thank you.

P.S. I'd also like to discuss two death threats from religious extremists I have received on the site.
