Guardian Sacks Racist Blogger

According to Harry's Place, The Guardian newspaper (of the UK) has sacked a Racist Blogger. Pressure on the newspaper to act in such cases may have been increased by this recent extensive report on antisemitism in "Comment is Free" (the blog of the Guardian.)

Jonathan Hoffman, the author of the report said:

"The Guardian took action promptly when alerted to the fact that they were commissioning articles from an author who had been moderated for antisemitism. I welcome this and hope that Matt Seaton's strong statement in the JC on Friday 3 October will be backed up with continuing proactive Moderation to eliminate all antisemitism from CIF. As I said in my Report, it is entirely wrong that the victims of antisemitism on CIF should be relied upon to identify it."
From the Jewish Chronicle of October 3rd:
At The Guardian, the editor of the Comment Is Free section, Matt Seaton, said: "We have a zero-tolerance policy on antisemitic postings or any other form of hate speech. We devote considerable and growing resources to moderating our site, with the help of our users. We do not tolerate any hate speech, and our moderators will delete comments which are antisemitic or Islamophobic or otherwise racist , as soon as they are reported to us or when we see them ourselves. That happens in minutes rather than hours or days. We are very well aware that one should never be complacent about antisemitism in the public domain or other forms of racist discourse and we work very hard to tackle the issue and to keep racist commenting off our site.
The Jewish Internet Defense Force celebrates this victory against online antisemitism and continues to encourage everyone to do what they can in this never ending battle.
