Obama back in 2001

In honor of its tenth anniversary, Google made its old archive from 2001 available for searching. If you go here, you can search Google as if it were still 2001. As one can see, Barack Obama was a virtual unknown back then, and today his searching for for his name produces millions of hits. We decided to do some searching of our own and find out what was known about Barack Obama back in 2001, or more specifically, what was known then, that his supporters would like us to forget today. (We got this idea from a post by Debbie Schlussel):

  • Obama was a member of the socialist "New Party" (notice the endorsement for ACORN too if you scroll down in the first link). Read more here and here.
  • This picture also turned up (from New Party News, Spring 1996).
There is more to be found out there. We suggest you do some Googling on your own if you can and see what you can turn up. If you find anything interesting, send it our way!
