We're thrilled and honored to announce that the founder of the JIDF spoke at the World Union of Jewish Students Congress this year, alongside the IDF Spokesperson's Unit (דובר צה"ל).
The WUJS represents 1.5 million Jewish students, worldwide, and their elected representatives are in Israel this week. The conference was sponsored by the World Jewish Congress, World Zionist Organization, Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israeli Knesset, and others.
David is among many other Jewish and Israeli leaders to address the WUJS Congress, and spoke via satellite. He discussed the work of the JIDF in general and went into detail about some of our campaigns. Below is more about the conference from the homepage and the from the WUJS Chairperson, Chaya Singer:
Welcome to the WUJS Congress 2009, "WUJS 3G - Unlocking our Future".The following is the plenary, showing other speakers involved:
The soul of an organization lies in its capacity to evolve. In athe tradition dating back to 1924 under the chairmanship of Albert Einstein, the Annual WUJS Congress once again brings together elected representative Jewish student leaders from around the globe, to assess and confront the contemporary face of the age-old challenges facing Jewish students.
"WUJS 3G - Unlocking our Future" will focus on engaging Jewish students in the use of new media and technology as the primary tool of our generation to unify and represent Jewish students, and to organise our efforts in combating Anti-Semitism.
This year the Congress will take place in Israel's eternal capital, the City of Jerusalem. The schedule boasts leading experts, exceptional young innovators, diplomats, politicians and academics, and includes private sessions at the Knesset and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The program has been tailored to provide an exclusive menu of keynote addresses, expert skills training sessions and facilitated participant-based discussions. Key issues of the day have been identified and will be addressed in track sessions, aimed at creating an innovative, cutting-edge program of action for WUJS 2010 and beyond.
I believe success will be dependent upon our courage to embrace bold, unconventional solutions, but as in the past, we need to twin our heritage and tradition of free thinking to find dynamic ways to unlock our future.
Yours in solidarity,
Chaya Singer
