New Israel Fund Staffer: "Israel is stooping to terrorism"

With all the allegations flying around lately about the New Israel Fund (NIF) being responsible for a large majority of the anti-Israel allegations in the Goldstone Report and them trying to deny it, we feel it is important to point out some facts about one of their staffers.

According to this Brit Tzedek v'Shalom Facebook group, "kungfujew18" is a guy by the name of Ben Murane:
Join us in Washington D.C. from October 25-28 for J Street's conference....

...sign the We've Got Your Back, Mr. President pledge and tell us why you've got Obama's back on this critical issue. be a part of our Facebook outreach team, contact Ben Murane at
As you can see, Ben Murane goes by the handle "kungfujew18" and promotes overwhelmingly leftist causes.  He's also very active on Twitter, going out of his way to defend New Israel Fund and spread other nonsense.

In this defamatory piece about our effort and founder, he wrote the following nonsense:
Spreading belief in a “global jihad” is the same as spreading belief in the Elders of Zion.
In case you're not aware, the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" is an antisemitic myth.  Apparently this guy believes that people discussing global jihad are just as bad as antisemites spreading lies about Jews.

The moral equivalency is apparently a pattern for him, since during Operation Cast Lead, he accused Israel as being just as bad as Hamas and accused Israel and the IDF of terrorism here stating:
...The whole damn Jewish world uses the response that “Hamas is using human shields” as a moral Get Out of Jail Free card. When civilians die, Israel is just at fault as Hamas.

...Israel is just as at fault as Hamas for the deaths of those civilians. Israel chose to accept civilian deaths as collateral. Worse, Israel is counting on civilian suffering to loosen the power of Hamas.

...Israel never has the moral high ground when it uses civilian suffering as a tool of statecraft. It’s stooping to terrorism.
Since we called him out on it, several times, on Twitter, he has since changed it.

So who is this Ben Murane?  According to the New Israel Fund website, he works for them as the "New Generations and Development Associate."

Of course this makes sense, considering:
  • NIF has granted more than $200 million to more than 800 organizations in Israel.” This includes $40 million from the Ford Foundation for “peace and social justice” programs.
  • In 2008, NIF distributed over $20 million to over 300 NGOs in Israel. Approximately 20% goes to NGOs that engage in political activities related to the Arab-Israeli conflict, including some that reject the legitimacy of Israel as Jewish democratic state, and are active in boycott and similar campaigns.
  • Examples:

It's just nice to know that people who compare us to antisemites and Israel/IDF to terrorists are working at supposedly "pro-Israel" organizations, isn't it?   With "friends" like these, who needs enemies?  Apparently, the Jewish Chronicle in London and don't forget UJA-Federation!
