VIDEO: Muslim Arrested for Threatening to Kill Rep. Eric Cantor Bragged about Being on JIDF Site in November 2008

A Shia Muslim by the name of Norman Leboon was recently arrested for threatening to kill Rep. Eric Cantor (R) of Virginia and his family.  Cantor is the only Jewish member of the House Republican caucus.  The video included a reference to Yom Kippur.  According to the CS Monitor, "In a statement, Mr. Leboon said that he had made over 2,000 videos in which he made threats. If convicted, he faces a maximum possible sentence of 15 years imprisonment, three years supervised release, and a fine up to $500,000."

The media is mostly leaving out the fact that Leboon is a proud Shia Muslim who had serious anti-Israel tendencies. You can still see a cache of Leboon's shiamuslimcantbestop ("Shia Muslim can't be stopped") YouTube channel. (Please note the support his channel received from various antisemitic/jihadist channels, and the fact that his channel was, in fact, "stopped").

In November of 2008, we wrote about a massive anti-JIDF campaign on YouTube and originally featured a video by Leboon who was ranting and raving about the JIDF (as he did in many his videos). After he made another video bragging about being on our site (see below), we decided to remove it.

He also falsely claimed that we had "declared war" on him on his LiveLink channel, here.

This is yet another example of how we have been on top of these trends, and how online threats can, and oftentimes do, manifest into real-life consequences.  It also explains why we do things in ways to protect our privacy, security, and safety, due to constant harassment and death threats we deal with from people like Leboon. Beyond the Leboon's of the world, our work has also been mentioned in official Hamas and Hezbollah forums as well as dozens of popular antisemitic sites.

Those who support our work and value the safety and security of innocent people trying to do good work generally respect and understand our needs.

We are currently digging up research we have on Leboon and might be posting more at a later date.
