We've said it all along. We don't like this guy. He's a loon that makes the right wing look absolutely nutty. He pushes NWO conspiracy theories. A lot of his information is exaggerated, or generally "off." Some of his fans blame the Jews for 9/11, and now, he's apparently FOX News' official Christian theology scholar, and FOX News is apparently the new Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). He preached the following mishegas:
"This is kind of complex, because Jesus did identify with the victims. But Jesus was not a victim. He was a conqueror...Jesus conquered death. He wasn't victimized. He chose to give his life....If he was a victim, and this theology was true, then Jesus would've come back from the dead and made the Jews pay for what they did. That's an abomination."Of course as we all know, we, the Jews, did not kill Jesus. The Romans did. Even if the Jews, back then, did kill Jesus, we have already collectively paid for that "crime" through years and years of Jew hatred and slaughter in Jesus' name. Many Christians who think they are G-d's gift to Jews and Israel don't like to be confronted with this basic fact of history. Many of them also blindly and fanatically support Glenn Beck and FOX News. Blaming the Jews for the death of Jesus, or for Obama, or for anything for that matter, does not help Jewish/Christian relations and is not good for Israel. Even if all Jews voted for McCain, Obama would still be POTUS. Make no mistake about it, although the JIDF is fiercely pro-Israel and anti-Obama, and we believe the right is generally more pro-Israel than the left, we do see a rise of antisemitism on both the left and the right. It's alarming.
These comments by Beck as you can see below (starting at about 6 minutes in) do not help the situation whatsoever. (Thank you to Debbie Schlussel for alerting us to this development):
